This is not a selection of political soul songs, but "Compared to What" from Della Reese is a great version of the Eugene McDaniels' anti-war anthem "Compared to What." The original version of the song is a powerful example of black pop that wasn't afraid, to speak truth to power, an element sorely missing in contemporary black pop music.

Iwas born in the late seventies and grew up near cologne. After studying at the Universities of Berlin & Bonn, I'm now living somewhere between these two former and recent capitals and Brussels, Belgium. I'm addicted to Funk & Soul Music between '65 - '75.
